If you’re travelling as a group, I’d avoid this place. There’s only one actual bedroom. What they call a second bedroom is an attic so tiny you can’t sit upright, nothing like the spacious-looking photo, and the steep stairs feel unsafe. The futon also had a strange yellow stain, and we couldn’t reach customer support. The house is beside train tracks, so trains pass and make noise. There are no window blinds either, so sleeping in would be hard if you’re sensitive to light or sound. Believe the one-star reviews. We paid over 60,000 yen per night to find this out, and as our first visit to Kyoto, it left a horrible impression.
The loft ceiling is lower than the photos make it look, and during our late June stay the aircon wasn’t strong enough, so sleeping up there was uncomfortable. The room was very bright. The train noise was okay, though, and otherwise it matched the pictures.
I couldn’t sleep because the house is right by the train line, and it’s very bright inside with no blinds. The nearby Aeon Mall was the only convenient thing. This place is worth 3000 yen a night at most, yet I couldn’t believe they charge 30000~60000 a night. The five-star reviews look fake, written by the group running it.
This has been my worst experience in Kyoto so far. We paid the price of a 5-Star hotel during the busy season but got service and security that felt below 1 star. The house is far from Kyoto station and close to the railway, so it was noisy. There was no reception or telephone, and calls to the office from our cellphones mostly went unanswered. The toilet was broken, and there was mold on the make-up cotton. When we asked for bath soap, they first said okay, then completely forgot and told us they didn’t provide it. That was unacceptable. I don’t recommend this room, or you may regret it.
Clean and cozy, with a little green patch, and ideal for two people. Kyoto station is a 10-minute walk away and Aeon Mall is 5 minutes away. The staff were very helpful.
