Yasaka Yutone Kyokoyado

We stayed in the Byakugun room, which was clean and very quiet apart from a soft hum from the air conditioner. The large, comfortable bed could probably fit two, maybe even three people. The library was beautiful, with great jazz playing, and the food courses were tasty and filling. A really pleasant stay.

The library lounge was cute, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were incredibly kind, and breakfast was probably the best I’ve had in Japan. On our second night, though, we found a LARGE cockroach, around 3-4 inches, on the ceiling near the bathroom. Staff came and sprayed insecticide and replaced some towels and bathrobes, but they didn’t offer us a different room or any other compensation. That’s why I can’t give this five stars.

The hotel is small, but the three-bed room worked perfectly for us, and that wooden tub felt wonderful after a day of walking. Make sure to try the in-room snacks and drinks. The plum soda was divine! We loved the incredible breakfast, which my husband called the taste of the trip. Staff were friendly and spoke English well. For a first visit to Kyoto, the central location was fabulous, with so many places within walking distance.

We spent two nights in the Kikyou room and were glad we added breakfast. It was a lovely way to start the day. The library downstairs has books, a few games, coffee and tea, small snacks, and even a massage cushion that we used. The front staff were especially attentive and kind. They also asked specifically about my husband’s dietary restrictions before our stay and accommodated them. We’d definitely recommend adding this hotel to your trip.
