Ryotei Rangetsu

The onsen felt refreshing and relaxing, and the water quality was very good. Our room and the views were beautiful, and the staff gave excellent service. Ryotei Rangetsu is also very convenient for visiting Arashiyama’s attractions. The kaiseki was excellent in both quality and taste, and the hotel handled our food restrictions very well after we told them in advance. I may have been there during a peak holiday period, so the price felt a bit high then. Other than that, everything impressed me.

Chihara-san, Yamaguchi-san and Taneda-san were lovely and looked after me throughout a wonderful stay. The hospitality, service and food were all fantastic, and getting here from Kyoto Station was easy. I’d recommend spending a little more for two or three nights in the Luxury Suite Japanese style with Open-air Bath room, with the traditional breakfasts and kiseki dinners. I hope to come back in spring and summer to experience it again.

We stayed for two nights while visiting Kyoto, drawn by the traditional Japanese service. I’ve traveled a lot and stayed in many places, but this was my favorite room, view, atmosphere and service I’ve experienced. The staff were so polite and helpful that we didn’t even feel like going sightseeing. We just wanted to stay in bed and look out the window all day. We’ll be back, thank you so much!

The view straight out over the Katsura River is beautiful, and the private and public baths are second to none. The hospitality and service were immaculate too. I’d highly recommend staying here, even for just one night. It’s one of the best places I’ve visited.
