Dormy Inn Maebashi Natural Hot Spring

The breakfast was nice, and the service and cleanliness were good, as expected at a standard Dormy Inn. My only concern was that there seemed to be more smoking areas than I expected, and I could smell tobacco in the lifts, probably from heavy smokers.

We were there for business, and the location by the train station was very convenient. The hotel was clean, with spacious rooms, a lovely onsen, and extra amenities. Breakfast was nice and enough, though I've had better. One thing to know: Booking.com says “shared bathroom,” which could make it sound like the rooms don't have private bathrooms. That isn't the case. Each room has its own bathroom, and “shared” refers to the onsen.

For anyone driving around Gunma in their own car, I'd definitely recommend this hotel. It has an indoor mechanical parking garage that even takes low cars, so I felt my car was safe. It's centrally located and gives easy access to the mountain roads and surrounding towns. This was my first hotel stay in Japan, back in June '23, and everyone on staff I met was super friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good, with Japanese-style and Western-style options available at the same time. If I get back to Gunma, Japan, I'll stay here again.
