The room was spacious enough to stretch in before the Maizuru Red Brick Half Marathon, and the breakfast offered a decent range for the price. I also liked being near the Red Brick Warehouse, with convenient access around the area. The rate under 10,000 yen was appealing. Still, I had a few issues that would make me think twice about staying here before a race. The walls let through TV noise and conversations, and I woke during the night to cigarette smoke in my non-smoking room. The nearby rooms were also non-smoking, so perhaps someone smoked elsewhere or on the emergency stairs. A toothbrush set was listed as an amenity but wasn't there. The bathwater felt slimy, and the air conditioning was hard to control, leaving the room too hot to sleep. There were good and bad points, so it won't suit everyone. If those issues would bother you as much as they did me, I'd avoid booking the night before a race.
