I stayed three nights during summer vacation for the fleet festival and fireworks. The natural scenery and sea breeze from the Sea of Japan made it easy to relax.

It's a bit of a walk from both the port and the station, though there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby for dinner. The hotel is new, with clean rooms and fast Wi-Fi. I could hold an online meeting without trouble, and breakfast was tasty too.

The location can be tiring if you're driving. It's on a one-way street, and I struggled to find my way to the second and third parking areas. But the service was great, and the stay was so good it completely reset that frustration. The natural spa is wonderfully relaxing and open all night. Breakfast is free, unbelievably good, and includes fresh bakery items.

This setup doesn't work well for families. Rooms are limited to two people, and parents with young children aged five or under are asked to book separate rooms. So a family of two adults and a five-year-old has to reserve two rooms, with no more than one adult and one child in each. That's not an ideal solution.

A good hotel in Higashi-Maizuru. I really liked the natural onsen, the breakfast, and the happy hour. The breads at breakfast were especially good.
