Yubara Kokusai Kanko Hotel Kikunoyu

The food was delicious and the service was great. I've stayed twice now, and both visits were just what I expected. It's the cheapest hotel, and I'd happily come back again.

The food and service were superb, and the hotel itself was lovely. There are three guest baths, including one on the roof, and they're a decent size. My one letdown was the basic toilets in both the rooms and public areas. None were automated.

The kaiseki dinner and service were okay, but nothing special, and I found the area pretty bland. The rooftop onsen shower space is open to the elements and has only a faucet, with no shower head, so getting there means braving the cold before your bath. The room and shared toilet smelled strongly of urine. The whole hotel felt old and poorly maintained. After staying at more than ten ryokans across Hokkaido, Gunma, Chubu, and Kyushu over the past seven years, this was by far my worst experience. I left very disappointed and definitely wouldn't recommend taking a chance on it.

The staff treated me wonderfully, and the bath was warm enough to help me unwind. The food was delicious, and there was so much of it that I couldn't finish. Thank you so much.
