Ryokan Seifuso - Vacation STAY 02208v

Breakfast was a work of art, and we ate there on both mornings of our two-day stay. Ryokan Seifuso is run by a wonderful family, and the lady who hosted us was amazing. They speak English. I visited in February and woke up to light snow, with a breathtaking view that felt like a winter wonderland. I learned the place has been around for more than 60 years. It was the most beautiful, calming stay I’ve had in all my years of traveling. Absolutely recommend it to anyone in Matsumoto, or visiting Japan.

The location worked perfectly for what we needed, with easy access to places like mt Utsukushigahara highlands, a great spot, and the golf course, which was amazing. My mate Bevan and I stayed a few nights and had a great time. Everyone was so welcoming and hospitable, and there’s nothing bad I can say about the place. It was easy to feel at ease there, just what you want on holiday. We loved it and highly recommend it to travelers.

We had a lovely view of the river and mountains, and plenty of room despite having booked three futons for two people. The ryokan is family run, and when we stayed in March, their welcome made us feel like family too. They were helpful with all our questions, and let us use their bikes for free. The town center is about a 20-minute walk, an easy route along the river. They also sell delicious honey and serve a large, amazing Japanese breakfast. We’d happily stay with them again.

We came by car and stayed at Ryokan Seifuso in Matsumoto. The host was amazing, sharing local recommendations and explaining Japanese culture, with tips for exploring places producing Wasabi, Miso, Soy, Whisky, or Green Tea across Japan. She also helped us book activities through official websites. We’d had trouble calling because the employees we reached couldn’t speak English, but she called and got reservations wherever we needed them. The ryokan was nice and cosy, with good eastern and western breakfast. Strong recommendation if you’re staying in Matsumoto for a few nights. Thanks so much for the hospitality, it was a pleasure!
