Guest House Itokawa

I found this place after everything in Shimoda was sold out while I was riding the length of the Izu Peninsula. Since I couldn't say exactly when I'd get in, the host set up an easy check-in with instruction cards. I arrived late and didn't get to meet him, but I appreciated how smoothly it was arranged. The best part for a cyclist was the storage hut outside, where I could leave my bike safe from the weather and theft. Inside, there's a big common room, good WiFi, and I think e-bikes are available to rent. My room had loads of space, with plenty of room for my scattered stuff and the fluffy futon. It was so comfortable I didn't want to get up the next morning. Everything was clean, the modern toilet was a nice touch, and there were towels downstairs plus a roomy shower.

This was my first time leaving a hotel review, but the host really stood out. The traditional Japanese house was very clean and thoughtfully cared for. I'll always remember being welcomed with, “Feel at home.” I'd highly recommend staying here when traveling.

Naoki Ito made us feel welcome, and the bed was comfortable. The shower was roomy and had nice hot water. It's a convenient spot too, near a bus stop, a foot bath, and lots of dinner restaurants.

Good value for the money, with nice rooms, a useful kitchen, e-bikes for rent, and great staff. The place could use some freshening up.
