Nishiizu Matsuzaki Itoen Hotel

It had been over a decade since I last came back, after all the years I spent visiting here with my family as a kid. I have a lot of fond memories with my aunt, who has since passed away. Returning brought those back. The ocean views and excellent service were just as I remembered, and the hot spring still makes it such a relaxing place. It's hard to believe they offer so much for such a low price. A real gem in this area.

The area is beautiful to explore, and the staff were so kind and nice. Every room faces the ocean, and those views are amazing. The hotel itself is outdated and past its prime, though, and the rooms could use an upgrade. The buffet and all-you-can-drink deal were great for the price. But when I visited in mid September, with temperatures above 30 C, the air conditioning was broken. The main dining room was so hot that it was hard to enjoy the meal.

We had a room on the 8th floor, with a spectacular view of Sagami Bay and the sunset. It was an older-style beach resort in Matsuzaki. Our Japanese-style tatami room was fairly spacious and comfortable enough, though you do sit and sleep on the floor. The staff were very accommodating, and there was a large choice at both breakfast and dinner. Food quality was a little below par, but for the very reasonable price with both meals included, it was perfectly acceptable.

Right on the beach, and you can see the sea from every room. The hotel has a buffet with all-you-can-eat food and drinks, including alcohol and soft drinks.
