The radon water heats me up fast, and I slept really soundly after my last visit. I was there around 5pm on New Year's Eve; about five or six families were around, though I ended up bathing alone. I got too warm and had to get out. The water is a clear, colorless radioactive cold mineral spring, and the entry fee was discounted from 600 yen to 400 yen. I've returned more than once for solo hot spring visits around Fukushima, sometimes with soba noodle soup. As a woman in my 50s, I care about the water, whether there's an outdoor bath, and whether the price matches the service. The receptionist noticed it was my first time and carefully showed me where the shoe lockers and baths were. The name is written as Mitsumiya, though I think it's pronounced "Mitsuyoshiya." Locals apparently call it "Baba no Yu." There’s only an indoor bath, which is why I gave it four stars. I wish there were an outdoor bath where I could relax more. I envy the people of Miharu for having a good hot spring nearby.
The visit left me thinking, "For better or for worse." People say this area used to be better, and now it gives me the feeling that it may end up like Kinugawa. My tourist mood disappeared right away. What stuck with me most was that my own home feels more comfortable, with its new, clean facilities and adorable cats waiting to greet me.
I had the place to myself after a group had just left. The water was clear, with no especially strong smell, and my underwear didn't pick up any sulfur odor. It seems like the kind of water you'd expect in the Abukuma Mountains.
The water was odorless and easy to soak in, and the place was very clean. My skin felt great afterward. I was curious about the radium springs, so I looked into their effects before deciding to try them on a day trip. I'll definitely come back. Many thanks to the kind woman at the front desk!
The inn is a bit old, though not enough for it to bother me. The bath wasn't crowded, so I went in three times, and the hot spring water was fantastic. The food was excellent too. Definitely worth experiencing! ♨️
