MICASA (Minakami Hot Spring Ryokan)

The staff were always so kind, and the food was delicious. This ryokan has become one of my favorite places from my time in Japan. The outdoor onsen was the best, especially bathing there with snow on the mountains. Everything felt amazing and beautiful. I really recommend it! Love it ♡

Micasa was a memorable highlight of our Japan visit. There aren’t many guestrooms, and the hosts are so welcoming that it’s a good place for a first experience of Ryokans. The onsen could be used privately, which also made it comfortable for trying this kind of Japanese experience. The staff made our whole stay special. I’ll especially remember the farewell from the staff member, whose warm, engaged manner stayed with me.

The hospitality and service were great, and breakfast was good. It works well for an overnight trip to minikami, but getting around the small area is difficult without a hired or personal car, and there isn’t much to do at night. Some shops are closed even when Google Maps says they’re open, so call ahead.

We stayed for two nights and had a lovely time. It’s quite far from the city center, but the peaceful atmosphere makes it a good fit if that’s what you’re after. The onsen was nice, and there’s a great sushi restaurant nearby called “ichitiki sushi”.
