Asahi Century Hotel

Very good.

For around 5,000 yen, I think a single non-smoking room with breakfast included is cheap. There’s no TV in the room, though there is an outlet. The large public bath is available, and the shower room, sink, and toilet are separate from each other and very clean. The bicycle parking is covered, but it’s more like a bicycle parking area, so a large motorcycle might get a third of it wet in the rain. Even so, I think I’d come back.

I stayed one night while touring by motorcycle, in the men-only, non-smoking business cabin, a 6-square-meter single. Parking was available, breakfast was included, and there was unlimited wine and sake, which was a nice perk. The staff were courteous, and I had a very pleasant stay. The cabin has no shower, toilet, or TV. A curtain separates the top of the entrance from the hallway, so you can hear some hallway noise and sounds from other rooms. It feels closer to an upgraded manga cafe than a private room, but for the price I was satisfied. It’s the kind of room you enjoy more if you’re comfortable with those trade-offs. The amenities were plentiful, including earplugs for anyone bothered by noise. The large public bath felt great and really eased the fatigue from riding. Breakfast was a little crowded, but going a bit early made it easy to find a seat. The price was reasonable, and it’s well placed for getting to Yamanashi’s sights. I think it’s a very good hotel base for a solo male traveler or motorcycle tour.

I stayed for two nights at a reasonable price. The hotel isn’t new, but it was clean and comfortable, and they clearly care about their guests. After checking out, I realized I’d left my pendant behind. When I went back, they had carefully packed it for me. It’s a really nice hotel.
