Uminomanmae sou

We stayed in June 2024, two adults with our three kids, and spent a lot of time on the second-floor balcony, barbecuing with an ocean view. We also went fishing for whiting, and the freshwater shower in the garden was such a nice touch. With the windows open, the waves made a soothing sound all day, while the kids watched YouTube videos with great audio. Yunotsu Onsen is about a 10-minute drive away, so we visited Yakushiyu and explored the past 12 years. I've decided I want to live here once the kids leave home. There's also a mysterious nearby island with Benzaiten enshrined there. Go find it!

The singing-sand beach right in front of the inn was the highlight for me. I expected it to just make a noise, but you can feel the vibrations when it sounds, and the sand is so soft that walking barefoot is a lot of fun. Anyone who enjoys that sort of thing will love it! (>_ The rooms are roomy, with a mezzanine and balcony, and all have air conditioning. The kitchen and bathroom look newly renovated. There's a security camera over the front door, plus a shower and a faucet for rinsing sand off by the entrance, which came in handy after the beach. The kitchen has most essentials, though the dishes seemed a little limited, and there were no seasonings. They did provide aluminum foil, kitchen paper, cooking sheets, and Ziploc bags, as well as dishes, laundry detergent, shampoo, hand soap, body soap, tissues, mosquito repellent, and small towels. For a short stay, you'll have what you need. Just know that shops and vending machines are quite a distance away without a car.

A really nice place where you can just relax.

A friend tipped me off that even locals consider this place a hidden gem. Having soba noodles with the coastline in view is hard to beat.
