Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro

The room was a little dated, but lovely and clean, with a kettle and trouser press. It came with slippers, nightwear, and lots of amenities, including free green tea and coffee. There’s a microwave in the foyer and a mini mart not far away. The foyer itself is impressive, the staff are genuinely helpful, and the service and location near shops and the JR station are great. Plenty of places to eat on site, too.

We spent three nights on the 24th floor, where the rooms were spacious and had plenty of amenities. The hotel is close to the station, with loads of restaurants and shopping nearby. Front desk staff were courteous, kind, friendly, and helpful. We loved the breakfast, which offered a mix of Western and Japanese food. Definitely recommend this hotel.

The main drawback for us was the room size. With three adults, the standard room felt cramped, and the larger option would mean paying quite a bit more for a suite. I might look at other hotels with more space for three next time, though I could also return for the convenience and service. We stayed twice during our Japan holiday, first for two nights and then for five before heading home. The hotel isn’t one of Tokyo’s newest, but it has direct access to Ikebukuro Station, shopping, restaurants, and transport. Staff were consistently professional, helpful, and welcoming. It was a reliable, comfortable base for seeing Tokyo.

The location was ideal, right among shopping areas, restaurants, and souvenir shops. There’s also an airport shuttle that drops you in front of the hotel. My room was spacious, clean, and well maintained, and housekeeping did a great job every day. At check-in, I found out my agent had booked the cheapest double room instead of the twin I’d asked for. The staff went out of their way to help, and I could upgrade to a larger, better room for a very reasonable price. I really appreciated their kindness and professionalism. Outstanding service, absolutely no complaints. I’d give them 100 stars if I could.
