Forest Villa Nanso No OKA - Vacation Stay 39406V

We had a comfortable stay in a very clean place, and I enjoyed using the wood stove. There was plenty of firewood, so it kept us warm. The facilities were well maintained, with amenities, Wi-Fi, and video services for the evenings. I’d happily come back. They gave us shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, and eggs, all of which were delicious. One thing to know: Toyota's original car navigation system didn’t work for us, and entering the address led us to the wrong place, so Google Maps is the better option. The front door and bathroom locks also took a little figuring out, even though everything was very clean.

The owner keeps horses, and we got to pet a cute pony. ❣️ Our dog was welcome too, and the garden had a dog run big enough for small dogs. The room was spotless, and I was happy to find free-range eggs and vegetables in a cooler. Towels and other amenities were provided, so we had everything we needed. I’d bought steak for dinner, so I used the hot plate instead of having a BBQ. The condiments were pretty basic, but that was fine, and the drip coffee left for the morning was lovely. The place is a short walk uphill from Tateyama's coastline, and it felt like a lovely space. My one disappointment was the small refrigerator. It couldn’t fit all the drinks along with the food I’d brought, and they couldn’t make ice. Maybe the idea is to feel removed from everyday life, but cooking is part of the stay, so I’d like to see a bigger fridge. It’s fitted into the kitchen island, but I wish it were at least larger.❗️ Since we were surrounded by nature, I appreciated how thoughtful they were. Thanks for bringing mosquito coils so soon after we arrived!❣️

It was easy to relax here, surrounded by nature and away from the usual bustle. The cooking setup and amenities were all there, and we rented the BBQ set as an extra. We picked up meat and seafood at roadside stations and enjoyed a delicious meal. Just note that on-site payment is cash or PayPay only.

The place itself was perfect, and I got to enjoy both the bonfire and stargazing like I’d hoped. Thanks for the eggs, too. I’d like to come again. Getting there was a little stressful, though. My navigation took me in from the back along a route that turned out to be correct, with steep slopes barely wide enough for my car. I asked the owner, who said coming from the other side is also possible, so be careful with the route. 😅😊
