While I was standing there cold and wanting to get to bed, I was glad at least that I could stay in the end. But the whole wait was frustrating. The manager wasn't there, and several calls to the number posted at reception wouldn't go through. Calling another number reached a related inn or somewhere, and they said someone was on the way. I waited an hour, called again wondering if something was wrong, and was told they'd contact me. More time went by. Just as I was getting impatient enough to consider leaving, the manager showed up. They said they'd been working in the background and couldn't get in touch, but by then I didn't have the energy to complain.

I was speaking calmly, but the person on the other end got agitated. I know the booking mistake was mine, yet I'm very disappointed by how they handled it. I wouldn't recommend this place. For the same price, I'd look for somewhere with better service. I accidentally completed a reservation on Booking.com and called the inn right away. They said it hadn't come through and told me to contact Booking.com. Booking.com then reached out to cancel, but the inn didn't check my email, and I ended up charged a cancellation fee for three days. They also said the facility had no contract with Booking.com, which made me wonder how the reservation had been made at all. The phone service was awful. The woman, who looked to be over 60, was especially rude. She wouldn't hear me out and kept saying "Huh?" twice. When I told her that came across as rude, she made excuses, saying she was carrying luggage. She also told me it was up to me whether to pay the cancellation fee and that I should be more considerate. That was shocking.

I had to stay there because there aren't any business hotel-style places in the area, but it was a bad fit for me. I have hip pain, and with only a thin futon on the floor and no support in the room, getting up and down was extremely painful. I knew it was semi-unmanned, but no unlock code arrived in advance, so I didn't know how to open the door. I had to call for someone to come. I brought my own toothbrush and towel, but hadn't realized there wouldn't be a cup either. The only other amenity was a television.

For two people, 12,200 yen for a room without meals felt far too expensive. The old photos online show a kitchen and shared room, but those spaces were being used for storage. Motels, I think, offer much better service. It was the worst experience of my life, and it felt practically like a scam. There was never anyone around, and the toilets and showers were shared by men and women. We weren't allowed to use the bath. There were no amenities, slippers, or robes, so we were barefoot in both the room and hallway. We could clearly hear the couple next door talking and snoring.
