We had the best dinner and breakfast of our trip here, for flavor, portion size and ingredient quality. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The public bathhouse is spacious and clean, with a proper sauna. I had it to myself both times I went and really enjoyed that. Our recently renovated room was comfortable. I was surprised the shower was outside next to the outdoor onsen, but it wasn’t cold once I’d soaked in the hot spring. There’s also an indoor shower in the public bathhouse. The lounge has free drinks and small snacks, a nice place to read, and there are washing and drying machines. Set in a quiet hot spring town, it’s a lovely place to relax, enjoy the onsen and get away from the city.

We had breakfast only, and as vegetarians we were a little worried about the options. The chefs made it some of the best food I’ve had in Japan, both in variety and in how thoughtfully it was prepared. It really didn’t feel like an afterthought. The staff checked on our dietary needs several times during booking, which I appreciated. I’m sure dinner would have been great too. The staff were hospitable and fantastic, and everything from check-in and checkout to meals was smooth and efficient. My wife and I spent three nights at Kyutei onsen inn, and it was a highlight of our Japan trip. The secluded setting just outside Kurokawa onsen was part of its charm, and a car is useful for reaching nearby places like Aso-Kuju national park, Yufuin and Takachiho. We had a beautiful, cozy room with all the necessary amenities and an attached outdoor private onsen. I spent almost half my time soaking in nature. It felt like paradise, and I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

The kindness and sincerity of everyone at Kyutei turned our stay into a lifelong memory. My girlfriend, now my fiancé, and I stayed on November 7th in a Japanese-style room with a private open-air bath. Beforehand, I asked for help planning a surprise proposal. From my first message, Miyazawa-san helped organize everything and got the whole staff involved. They even distracted my girlfriend so I could set up my camera in secret. The proposal went smoothly and was so touching. The chefs also surprised us with a beautifully presented fruit cake and a chocolate-carved congratulation message on the plate. We hadn’t expected it, and it was such a thoughtful gesture. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional, one of the best meals we had on this trip to Japan. Kyutei itself is stunning too. The private onsen uses blended natural stone elements, and you can set the water as hot or cold as you like. Our room combined modern comfort with traditional charm. The bathroom had high quality skincare products, including Medicated SEKKISEI, and ReFa hairdryers. The Yukatas and Pyjamas were incredibly comfortable, and I honestly haven’t slept that well on a vacation before. From the open-air bath we could look out at the quiet surroundings and Japanese maple trees, a perfect place to unwind and take in Kumamoto’s countryside. Thank you, Miyazawa-san and everyone at Kyutei, for helping create a perfect moment. We’re endlessly grateful, will cherish this stay forever and hope to come back. We encourage others to visit too. ❤️

The setting was just right, and it looked exactly like the photos online and on YouTube. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. I left feeling so relieved :) Highly recommend!

Our stay was so memorable. The rooms were quiet and spacious, with a private view and a private onsen that was always ready to use. The meals were delicious and elaborate, with several courses. There’s also ice cream and ping pong in the lounge. The people were accommodating, respectful and kind. It’s a must try!
