Ryokan Sanga

We felt cared for and welcome from the moment we arrived, with every staff member being so thoughtful and forthcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, a real highlight. Our cozy, inviting Japanese-style room was a lovely place to unwind, especially with the private stone bath. We had a perfect, relaxing stay. If you’re after a peaceful escape in Kurokawa, Sanga is a great choice.

The location is very quiet, up in the mountains, and the service and food really impressed me. Guests can use the private hot springs for free, though you need to book after checking in. I don’t understand ratings below five stars. The staff were so friendly, and the food was excellent. I’d highly recommend tourists visiting Kumamoto spend at least one night here, if not two.

The setting in Kurokawa Onsen is peaceful, surrounded by forest and small streams, and Ryokan Sanga (Ryokan Sanga) was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. It gave us the traditional ryokan experience we hoped for, with a calm atmosphere, authenticity, and wonderful hospitality. The indoor and outdoor onsen baths were amazing. Soaking in hot spring water surrounded by nature is something we won’t forget. Our traditional Japanese room was spacious and comfortable, and the attention to detail around the property stood out. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, with carefully prepared seasonal dishes. Thanks as well to Cocoro Japan for arranging the stay. It fit our itinerary perfectly, and everything was thoughtfully chosen and smoothly organized. This is the kind of place we wouldn’t have found on our own. We highly recommend Ryokan Sanga for a peaceful, genuine stay in Kurokawa Onsen.

This was my second visit in two years, and it’s still somewhere I’d like to return to. I spent three nights listening to the brooks gurgle nearby. The wholesome, generous breakfasts and delicious kaiseki dinners made with fresh local ingredients each night made it another healing trip. The service was great, with everyone polite and helpful. Our dinner server, Ms Mai, was especially cheerful and made us feel so welcome. Thank you, Mai-san!
