I am already used to high quality hostels in Japan but Untapped Hostel completely exceeded my expectations. It not only has all the amenities one would expect like complimentary towels, soap and shampoo, hair dryer, well equipped kitchen and quality common room, but even hot-water bags are provided too, which is a nice gesture, especially in winter. Like in a standard Japanese hostel you get a lot of privacy and everything is well-maintained and clean. The staff were amazing and I really liked the overal wooden-rustic design of the hostel which made it very cosy and pleasent to be in. There's

Insofar as a hostel, it's standard fare. Its strengths are that it's a quaint lodge style place a little further out of the Sapporo city centre, so it's quiet and attracts a calmer crowd. It's a small hostel but cosy. The first floor cafe serves nice food and drinks, if not a little pricey, but it's attractive enough that people come to dine even if they're not staying at the hostel. There are two things though which were a bit iffy for me, and these are when you consider the Japanese standard for hostels: - The first and second floor toilets did not have bidets. There is only one toilet per f

Had the most relaxing time at Untapped. The staff was so helpful and kind. Everything is very clean, and had an industrial, campy aura. There is only one toilet per room but I never found that an issue. Personally, I love that it’s a couple stops away from the city center; it’s quieter. There’s a cafe on the ground floor and has some really great, early options.
