I've been here twice and had a great time on both visits. The highland setting is beautiful, and the outdoor bath has an amazing sunset view. At night the stars are gorgeous, and they hold a free evening event where someone introduces the constellations you can see. It's Japanese only, though. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The dinner buffet is tasty but not mind-blowing, and it includes all-you-can-drink alcohol. For the price, I think the stay is definitely worth it, especially if you love nature.

The buffet at dinner and breakfast had a wide range of options, and the hotel itself was clean and beautiful, with spacious, luxurious rooms. We went by car to Kurokawa Onsen in the evening, just a five-minute drive away. I'd happily stay here again. I had booked the wrong date and only realized on the day of the booking, when the hotel contacted me. They kindly changed my reservation without a fee even though I'd booked through a third party, and they also upgraded our room.

I wouldn't recommend this onsen. I know a lot of onsens in Kurokawa, and being left outside at their far-off location felt absurdly disrespectful. It was supposed to be my onsen number 15. They're already in the middle of nowhere, and their hours aren't very clear. They should make the timing much more explicit.

This is my second stay at this well-located hotel. Everything is decent, and the service is friendly. Rohit at the front desk was especially helpful.

I liked the room and the open-air onsen, and the location in general was great. The food was not bad after all, served buffet-style.
