Sandal Wood

We all left dinner full, and the food was delicious. The room was clean, the price was very reasonable, and having onsen water in the private bath meant I could soak without leaving my room. It’s a bit away from Tanegashima’s main area, but very close to JAXA, which makes it handy for a one-night stay after an afternoon visit. I had a great experience and would recommend it.

Dinner here is a good idea. We tried finding somewhere in town on a Saturday, but almost every restaurant was booked, so we had to pick up sashimi at the supermarket and take it back. The hotel itself is stylish and tucked into the woods.

It has a homey, more pension-like feel than a typical hotel, and the part-time young man serving us was always smiling. The meals were generous and used Tanegashima ingredients, with alcohol at a reasonable price. The hot spring bath was lovely, with thick, velvety-feeling water. My room was in the building beside reception. The tatami room had a mattress bed and was comfortable, and there was an air purifier. The indirect lighting left the room a bit dim, though a desk lamp helped, and the TV was small. Some wallpaper was stained and peeling, so the room seemed a little old, but still acceptable. Noise from the next room carried quite a lot. If little kids are jumping around, it can get loud. Finding the place was slightly tricky since it’s off the main road, but there was a sign and I got there.

The food was delicious and every staff member was wonderful. I’m really grateful I could soak in Tanegashima Onsen several times right in my room. The more I bathe in that water, the more refreshed I feel. It’s my favorite kind of hot spring (*^-^). Thank you so much (^○^). m(_ _)m
