Akarinoyado Togetsu

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful place! The staff were incredibly sweet and helpful, and the room was in magnificent condition. The food was exquisite. We were so excited about the child’s meal, clothes, and even slippers. My goodness. I wish I were the only person in the world who knew about this place. I’d definitely go to Beppu just to stay here. Thank you all so much for having us!

The public onsen and its dressing room weren’t in good shape or very tidy, so Togetsu might not be the best choice in Beppu if that’s what matters most to you. The room and dinner buffet were nice, and the private onsen was good too. As a hotel option, Togetsu isn’t bad.

We were in town for our honeymoon, and this stay was amazing. The area is beautiful and close to all the Beppu pools. Our room was excellent, and so was the private bath. The two men at the front desk were courteous and so helpful. The service was excellent, and I highly recommend staying here.

The staff made this stay for us. Everyone we met was kind, patient, professional, attentive, and willing to accommodate our requests. I called the front desk about five times in my first ten minutes after check-in, since my questions came to me one by one. They answered efficiently and were incredibly patient, even with the small language barrier. On our second day, Thi, a Vietnamese staff member, introduced herself and took time to chat. She checked that we had everything we needed, and that personal touch meant a lot to us. Our room was clean and tidy, with a refrigerator, clean bathroom, and comfortable beds. I had a great view of the mountainside and the hot spring steam. My kids’ room looked out over the ocean, though it was some distance away. The location gets 9/10 from me. It’s a short walk to most of the "hells" or hot springs, plus a cozy bakery and a little izikaya run by an older couple that was amazing. The breakfast and dinner buffets looked great, but we wanted to try local food, so we didn’t eat there this trip.
