December 2024 We were stopping for a night of skiing on the way back from visiting family. One person in our group had to cancel two days before, so we called and they were happy to adjust for us. The inn has two floors and the service felt attentive. Our room had a washlet toilet, air conditioning, and a fan heater, so it stayed warm. The Wi-Fi was no use at all. We borrowed another router, but that failed too, which was stressful since it was the end of the month and we were watching our remaining phone data. There also aren’t vending machines, and the closest convenience store is about a seven-minute walk away. There are two hot springs with slightly different temperatures. In winter, I think they were around 40°C and 43°C, so we could pick the one that suited us. Dinner was fantastic. We chose the Western-style course, made with local ingredients, and really enjoyed it. The Murakami beef steak was amazing, and even the dessert felt thoughtfully done. Breakfast was delicious and generous too. My family doesn’t eat much, but it kept us going while skiing, so we didn’t need to stop for lunch during the busy part of the day. I usually stay around Yuzawa or Shiozawa, and this was my first visit to Muikamachi. It was close to the ski resort and reasonably near my parents’ home, which worked out great. December 2025 I came back for another one-night stay at the end of the year. I’d loved last year’s Western-style dinner, but this time we ordered Niigata Wagyu sukiyaki. It was delicious and came in generous portions, with a boat-shaped platter that was a nice touch. Our room had Wi-Fi this year, and the hot springs were great again.

The sunlit bathhouse looks out onto nature, and I loved how spacious it was. I came for a day trip to enjoy the hot springs, and would like to stay overnight next time. I’d forgotten my bathing supplies, so I’m very grateful to the female staff member who helped me even though the front desk was closed.

The breakfast was just like the photo and tasted good. We were here for snowboarding, and the hot springs were open nearly around the clock apart from cleaning, so guests were spread out and we could bathe whenever we liked. There’s no open-air bath, and the bathing area isn’t especially big, but I liked the choice of temperatures and the view through the window.

The breakfast was lavish and delicious, and I’m glad I added room service. The facilities and customer service were satisfactory too. I was a little thrown at first because the reception looked like one at a wedding hall. I get the sense this place is used for weddings and meetings.
