The rooms were clean and good, and breakfast was good too, but I'm giving one star because I was charged 720 yen for an onsen I didn't use. There was no explanation of the charge when I booked online. My wife asked for a hairdryer and was told they didn't have one. How can a hotel have no hairdryer? The next day she asked another staff member, who gave her one. My wife chose the hotel for its pool, but there was no water in it. They said it only opens in summer, though the website didn't give dates. It was still pretty hot on September 16. If I'd known, I would have stayed at the last hotel I used, which was much cheaper and cozier. If you're planning to stay, call and confirm everything, maybe more than once. The staff member you speak to might not know the details.

The beds were really hard, but I put extra blankets under the sheet and made a comfortable mattress that way. I stayed for more than a week, including the busy Golden Week period, and had a very enjoyable time. The hotel has some quirks, like room doors only about 1.8 m, or 6 ft, tall, but the rooms themselves are spacious. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of Japanese and Western options, and the onsen is wonderful.

The meals were fantastic: a buffet breakfast and teishoku dinners. It's a nice place high on the mountain, with both indoor and outdoor hot springs.

The room looked renovated, and although the building is older, it was clean and well kept. There was a stylish wooden frame by the pillow, though I worried its corners could be dangerous for elderly guests, so we lowered the bed. We were on a family trip with my mother-in-law and husband. The buffet meals at both dinner and breakfast were delicious and satisfying for them, especially at this price. We had hoped to try sashimi after seeing the pictures, so it was disappointing that it wasn't available. Staff were kind and helpful, especially the lovely woman with the beautiful smile at the buffet, who looked after us right to the end of the meal. I took off a star for the room design and missing sashimi, but I'd like to stay again if I get the chance.

The food alone would bring me back. Dinner was buffet-style, with free choice of seating, and it was so delicious I could hardly believe it. Breakfast was just as good. I'd use this hotel again if I had the chance. It's attached to a ski resort, and I stopped here for a break on my trip. The parking lot was a bit far, which seemed inconvenient given my difficulty walking. When I went toward reception, the linen staff had the elevator tied up, so I slowly took the stairs instead. A young man at the desk kindly showed me the way. My booked room was old but reasonably clean, with a slightly creaky floor; the view from the window made up for it. The men's and women's baths are separate and don't rotate. The water was a little lukewarm, but I stayed warm for a long time afterward. The open-air bath was shallow, and you have to pass through the indoor bath to reach it, which was a bit disappointing.
