Osawayama Onsen Osawakan

This is my second stay at this small hotel, and I’ll definitely come again. The service and food are great, and the jot is just amazing. It’s a little far from public transport, but a great location if you’re planning to visit Echigo-Tsumari Art fields.

By far the best Ryokan I’ve ever stayed in. It’s beautiful and peaceful, with great service, food, and onsen. No complaints at all, and I can’t wait to return someday.

The ryokan’s famous for its distinctive service: Japanese-style food is set out in every corner, and you can eat as much as you like. It’s included in the stay, which isn’t expensive. The building keeps a traditional Japanese style and is simply beautiful. After the onsen, having some ice candies was such an awesome experience. One of the best ryokan I’ve stayed at so far, and I’d highly recommend it. You’ll leave really satisfied.

This is a lovely retreat fairly close and accessible from Echigo Yuzawa. The ryokan will pick you up from Oosawa train station and take you up a mountain road to the property. There’s nothing within walking distance, so once you arrive, you’re there to enjoy the ryokan itself. Thankfully, there’s plenty to enjoy. It’s a gorgeous 40-year-old ryokan with a 30 year old annex. Japanese will probably be required to stay here. There are two shared onsen, one indoors and one outdoors. In winter, you can enjoy amazake, ice cream, and konyaku on your way to the outdoor baths. There’s also an indoor coal stove where you can roast onigiri, mochi, and sweet potato. On clear days, you can see Makihata mountain from the outdoor hot baths.
