The spaghetti was just noodles with a strange gravy, and there was no meat or vegetables. The beef bowl had so little rice it seemed like a very small child's portion. When I asked for more, they said it would cost another 200 yen. Those two dishes and a tiny bowl of chips came to $3500 yen. A terrible experience. I've lived in Japan for four years and go skiing regularly. I don't expect much from resort food, but this was the worst restaurant I've been to.

The hotel is a little old-fashioned, but that can be part of the experience. I went for a one-night, two-day snowboarding trip booked through a travel agency, and I don't understand the one- and two-star reviews. I'd give it more than four stars because of the staff. The guy there was really cool and friendly, easy to talk to, and happy to teach me different things. Give it a try, you might love it.

I would never rent ski gear here again. The sets were old, almost primitive, and nothing worked effectively. We waited a full hour to rent them, and no one seemed to try to make the process quicker, easier, or friendlier.
