Ike-san was a great host, and I’m glad I took him up on the local onsen visit. It was clean, beautiful, luxurious, and inexpensive. I still can’t believe such a glamorous, almost magical Onsen is out in the countryside. The whole visit was 750 yen per person, which blew my mind.

Warabi turned out to be the heart of the area’s historic washi paper industry, with lanterns, wallpaper, shoji doors, and more. We came hoping to see ceramics studios, museums, and galleries, and arranged a driver. It worked perfectly as a base for a day in Tajimi and a morning in Mino. Our host Tomo was warm and welcoming, and we felt at home right away. We learned a lot from him, especially because he loves the outdoors, kayaking, hiking, and skiing. If you enjoy countryside, forests, rivers, and green surroundings, you’ll be very happy here. Ask Tomo for local restaurant suggestions too, we had excellent meals.

The price is good, and the room is very cute. Even though the house is old, it’s really clean, and I think the host takes veeeeeery good care of it. I’ve stayed here three times since 2017.
