Comfort Hotel Mito

The customer service is the real strength here. It felt warm and family-friendly, and a welcome change after experiences elsewhere with poor service or unhelpful explanations at the end of a trip. I've travelled to all 47 prefectures of Japan and usually choose business hotels because I mainly need somewhere to sleep. This relatively new hotel, completed in 2025, really stood out for its service and seems well suited to families. It's reasonably priced, easy to get to, and the building is currently very clean. If you don't need a large public bath or sauna, I'd recommend it. Breakfast offered plenty of choices, but the food was average overall and the drinks were a little disappointing. I visit more than 100 restaurants and tourist facilities each year, mainly in Shizuoka Prefecture. I hope this helps people planning a visit.

The bathroom is spacious, with a quite large bathtub, and I especially like the conditioner because it leaves my hair smooth. The hotel is clean and beautiful, conveniently close to Mito Station. Free breakfast begins at 6:30. I was served first thing in the morning, but it was disappointing that the food wasn't very warm despite being supposed to be freshly made.

The hotel has just opened and is beautiful, close to the station, and offers free breakfast. Check-in and checkout are automated, but there's also a front desk staff member, which is convenient. The vinyl curtain in the unit bathroom had a damp smell. The provided deodorizer helped a little. When I told the staff after being out for the day, they were happy to move me to another room. The price is reasonable, and I'd definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Mito location in mid-February. It's close to the station and easy to find, and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was bigger than I expected. Depending on the room and its location, the small desk and chair face the TV, which was very convenient. The main problem was the tap water. After reports that recent rainfall in Mito over the prior two weeks had caused an earthy, moldy smell, I noticed it at this hotel too, including in some breakfast dishes. That was very disappointing, and even gargling in the room was unpleasant. I don't blame Comfort Hotel, since it can't be helped, so I'd give it four stars. I really hope Mito city takes action soon.
