I had a great time at this guest house. The staff are all friendly and do their best to help guests get the most out of their stay. The handmade guide to sightseeing spots and restaurants is useful and thoughtfully chosen. The evening Yuntaku is especially nice if you're traveling alone. We shared information and made connections with other travelers, which is what makes this place special, something you don't get from a luxury hotel. A couple of things to keep in mind: communication is mainly in Japanese, and the age limit is 15 and up. It's a bit far from the center, so renting a car is ideal. I'd love to come back. Arigatou 😊

What made the stay feel so special was how welcoming the owners and his wife were. They’re warm, attentive, and lovely to talk with, and the rooftop sky full of stars and shooting stars is something I won’t forget. The guesthouse also has a friendly, easygoing feel where conversations with other guests happen naturally, sometimes over a shared meal or drink. I slept really well in the big, comfortable beds. I’d read comments saying the rooms were small, but that wasn’t my experience at all. The place was clean, organized, and had plenty of amenities, and I thought the price was very fair for the comfort. umioto also has car rentals, which I’d like to combine with a stay next time. Having help with transport as well as accommodation is a nice extra. I had a comfortable, fulfilling four-night visit and would love to come back. If you’re unsure about concerns you’ve read in other reviews, I think staying here will put your mind at ease. It made my time in Miyakojima feel special.

The pool was the part I keep thinking about. At night it was lit up so beautifully that it felt like a resort hotel pool, and floating there with other guests while watching fireworks was memorable. The owners were great too. They took me to see Barringtonia racemosa flowers that bloom for just one night, and I got to enjoy the Miyako night properly. I’d never thought of a guesthouse as a luxury stay before, but this one changed my mind. The living room and kitchen feel upscale and relaxing. In the women’s shower room there’s a ReFa showerhead and Okinawan spa cosmetics, and the water felt soft. Hotels and private rentals are common now, but being somewhere you can meet people is appealing too. No surprise they have so many returning guests. I’d happily come back to Miyako Island and stay again.

I was traveling alone, but it didn’t take long to make friends with everyone. We cooked and ate together or went out for food, then hung out until 11 pm. On the second day, four of us headed to Aragusuku Beach early to snorkel, which turned into a great memory. I stayed three nights for my first visit, and it was comfortable. There’s a hammock on the roof where you can relax, though I think we’d have enjoyed it even more with better weather. Pots, plates, chopsticks, seasonings, and a fridge are there if you want to cook. I’d definitely stay at this guesthouse again when I’m back in Miyakojima.

Private rooms make it easy to choose your own pace here. You can retreat to your room when you want quiet, or spend time chatting in the living room, so I’d recommend it even to someone trying a guesthouse for the first time. The other guests I met were lovely, and the place added something special to my travel memories. The owners have clearly put care into making a comfortable stay. There’s a roomy, open kitchen and living area, a Balmuda toaster and oven range, and a large outdoor pool that looks great at night. The showers have soft water, the beds in the private rooms are plush, and the shared facilities are kept sparkling clean. There’s also the resident dog Chacha. You feel that lively atmosphere as soon as you walk in.
