The Shigira

I've never stayed at a resort with service this bad.

My butler picked me up at the airport and brought me to The Shigira. After that, I could get around with him or drive myself, so there was no need to rent a car. I could handle meals, spa treatments, activities, and souvenir shopping all within the hotel. The main bathroom was visible from both the private pool and the second room. The blinds didn't help much, since I could see through the gaps, and I found that stressful. I'd also read another guest's review saying the hotel had name-brand amenities, but apparently those have been replaced with ordinary ones. Apart from those issues, I had a luxurious, out-of-the-ordinary stay and found it very relaxing.

We come here as a family every year. The staff are always friendly, though the service and staff can vary. Breakfast feels a bit more luxurious than at other hotels, but some areas are starting to look dated. This year, the jacuzzi felt a little slimy.

It rained throughout our stay, but the view from the ski lift was nice. Breakfast was delicious, and since the Shigira Resort is so large, a free shuttle bus runs around it. There are plenty of places to eat outside the hotel, though most need reservations.
