Sun Hotel Miyakonojo

For a business hotel, I think it offers good value and convenience. The building is old, but it was clean enough that I felt comfortable. There is a bathtub, though it can't be filled with hot water, so the shower is the only usable option. Quite a few nearby restaurants close on Sundays.

The price was low, so I suppose the room was about what you'd expect. It's close to the station and there are bars nearby, which is a plus. The room itself was average, but the bed springs were loose and I sank into it. The bathroom only worked as a shower: there was a deep tub without a stopper, and the curtain was too short to be useful.

It may be okay if you expect a shared house, but as a hotel it was disappointing. My private room had no wall above it, so everything from next door carried through. You have to eat and drink in a shared booth, and the shared showers and few toilets get crowded. You also can't leave before 6 a.m. unless you ask.

The staff at the front desk were warm and helpful, and I had a pleasant stay. The room equipment is old, though it did have a shower, microwave, mini fridge, and beer vending machine. I couldn't give it five stars because there were hairs inside the fridge and on the desk. They need to put more effort into cleanliness and housekeeping.
