The other staff were friendly and helpful, but one woman at reception, the one wearing glasses, was rude and impolite. Her instructions were unclear, and she gave us wrong information. She also charged our 6-year-old as an adult. We paid 27,000 yen for the night through Agoda, and there was an extra 5,400 yen for breakfast. I won't come back after that service from her.

There was loads to do around the ryokan, even though it's in a rural area. The town is charming, with plenty of hiking and beautiful abandoned shrines. Inunaki Dam and Inunaki Annex were breathtaking. I'm vegetarian and usually can't eat much in Japan, so I called ahead. The staff went out of their way to make me a vegetarian feast fit for a king. I was shocked by how much they cared, and the meal was amazing. They're so friendly, too. The beds and rooms were comfortable, and the place has karaoke, golf, billiards, a gorgeous rock onsen, a relaxation room full of manga, a room with massage chairs, and lots more. This is the best ryokan I've stayed at in Japan. Everything was wonderful, no complaints at all.
