Business Miyazaki Royal Hotel

October 2025. I stayed alone on a weekday in a non-smoking single room for 7,000 yen. My room was on the third floor and was fairly quiet. It had a regular-sized bathtub in a three-piece unit bathroom, plus a bidet and heated toilet seat. The independent air conditioner let me set the temperature just right, and the ceiling light made the room bright. The fridge has no freezer, but it cooled well enough for beer and other drinks from the convenience store. Wi-Fi speed tests showed 96.6 Mbps down and 39.1 Mbps up, but the connection kept dropping. Searches and videos would start buffering, so I often switched to my own Wi-Fi because the hotel connection was inconvenient. The hotel is near the station, but the main nightlife area takes about 10-15 minutes to reach on foot. That's not ideal for bar hopping or ducking back for a short break after drinking, or killing time until bars open. A walk of more than 15 minutes when you're drunk is tough, and taking a taxi every time gets expensive. If I had that much money, I'd rather spend it on another drink. There were lots of business travelers and the hotel has a parking lot, so that seems like the best fit.

There are an ice maker, vending machines, and a microwave on the first floor, and Nagano-ya supermarket is nearby, so it's fine for an overnight stay. The bento and side dish names there are pretty quirky, lol. Miyazaki Station is a bit far away, though. The room feels dated, but the desk beside the bed is surprisingly handy. I liked that the REGZA TV gets channels beyond regular terrestrial broadcasts. I watched Abema's anime channel the whole time. The bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen in a hotel.

My company booked this for a business trip after my usual hotel was full. I stayed four nights over five days in a single room, with no meals. Nearby are a supermarket, convenience store, Ogura, known for its chicken nanban, Steak Gusto, and Yoshinoya. There's also a lovely little gelato shop about five minutes away. The room smelled a bit, even though I brought Febreze. It also had an air purifier and deodorizing mist. There's one coin laundry machine, and drying costs 100 yen per 10 minutes. A microwave is on the first floor, and you can make coffee from 7:30 to 9:30 in the morning. The TV has satellite channels, and you can log in to watch YouTube or Netflix. The unit bathroom is extremely small, and the mattress is on the firm side. I brought my own pajamas, though the hotel provides a yukata. The ionic hair dryer was fine, and there was a phone charging cable in the drawer, but its cord is short.

I was very happy to find a nearby chicken nanban restaurant said to be the dish's birthplace in Miyazaki. The room was a little old, but it had the amenities I needed for a short stay in the city. The location is very good, and I was satisfied with the stay overall.
