Hotel Dormy Inn Miyazaki Natural Hot Spring

We spent three nights at Dormy Inn Miyazaki in October. Being right in the city center made it easy to get to restaurants and shopping malls nearby. The onsen was great, and having self-service laundry on the top floor was handy. I could do a wash while relaxing in the onsen, which saved time. I also took a company call there, and the strong Wi-Fi and comfortable lobby helped it go smoothly. A couple of things to plan for: parking costs extra each night, and the building has no elevator. Unload your luggage before going to the parking area. Dormy Inn Miyazaki gave us a good mix of comfort, convenience, and useful amenities.

We had the three-person room, and it was huge. The hotel was clean and really nice, and we liked having the toilet and shower in separate rooms. It's quiet despite being very central. Upstairs, the spring had Yakult in the morning and ice cream at night. Each of the men's and women's onsens had lots of washers and dryers. Washing was free, including detergent, while drying cost 100 yen per 20 minutes. Parking was right next to the hotel and only 950 yen a night.

The hotel is good and the Onsen is great, but the sauna towels seem inappropriate, especially since they looked brownish even in low light. Another problem was the automatic light at the guest room entrance. Every time I came back from the toilet it switched on the full light, which could make it hard to fall asleep again. And why was there a "deposit" on my bill when I don't get it back?

This newer Dormy Inn is good value for money, with slightly bigger rooms than the other ones I've stayed at. And the location, close to everything, is hard to beat. I liked having self-service laundry. The staff generally spoke limited English, but they were patient, friendly, and helpful with translation devices. A few small things could be better if I come back: the floor and bedhead surfaces were dusty, the air conditioner smelled a bit unpleasant on the warm-air setting, and the TV's onsen occupancy indicator was inaccurate most of the time. Still, for this price, I think it's a great place and would recommend it to tourists staying in Miyazaki City.
