The suite looks out over the canal and rotating bridge, and it's tastefully set up inside a historic building. It's gorgeous and spacious, with a private onsen and an attached outdoor rotemburo. The staff know their stuff and are professional. Dinner is a first-rate French-inspired course, and the wine list is unbelievable for bottle collectors. By-the-glass prices are reasonable too, and they serve wine from the nearby amanohashidate winery. The location, food, and accommodation were all fantastic. I've got just one suggestion for an almost perfect stay: a proper espresso would be nice. The Swiss super-automatic machine makes lovely coffee at breakfast, but after dinner I wanted something with a bit more oomph 😄.

The room had a great view and a massage chair. The western-style dinner was delicious, and breakfast was good Japanese-style food. The hot spring is small, but should be enough when the hotel isn't full. It's a small hotel, so there aren't group tourists staying here, which made for a quiet holiday.

Dinner was wonderful, though the root vegetables were a little undercooked. This is a nice place for oenophiles. It was a lovely night to walk back from dinner by the temple gate and bridge, with a full moon overhead. The ryokan was very pleasant, though a bit pricey. It still wasn't as overpriced as the places up the hill.

A lovely place to stay for a more local feel, with wonderful amenities and a great location. Just be aware there are no lifts and no front desk or concierge.
