You really need a car to stay here, but it's a lovely base for exploring Shikoku, especially Iya valley. We stayed in an old country-style house with three rooms and a fully equipped living and kitchen area. The host was super nice, and the view from the porch was spectacular. We had a great BBQ in the evening after bringing our own groceries, though I'm not sure if guests need to do that themselves. A relaxing place with a great atmosphere and amazing views. We'd highly recommend it.

We picked MATOBA by chance and spent one night there. It's been my favourite place in Japan so far, and definitely felt worth the money. Takuto took care of everything for us, did an amazing job, and is a great guy. We want to come back in winter.

The guesthouse is a stunning blend of old and new, renovated from a 100 year old building. The host was incredibly friendly and made me feel at home, and hearing some of the area's history made the stay a blast. The view is phenomenal too. Getting up there means a bit of a windy walk, but it's totally worth it. If you're staying in Iya Valley, you have to come here. I'll 100% return on my next trip to Japan.

Such an amazing place in Soya-village, a hidden sacred place. I'm really thankful to the owner who built it and opened it up as accommodation so we could stay here. I'll definitely come back soon.
