Daiwa Roynet Hotel Morioka Ekimae

A 7 Eleven downstairs was handy, and the walk to the main street for coffee, food, and shopping was easy. JR Station and local buses are close by too. I stayed one night in a twin room with two beds, which was clean and roomy for two. The staff were helpful, and check-in and check-out were both straightforward.

The room was comfortable in size, with the spacious bathroom I expect from the Daiwa Roynet brand. I also found the staff very kind and helpful, and the lobby had a more generous selection of amenities than at many hotels I've visited. The location makes things especially easy. The hotel is directly across from the train station and reachable through the underground walkway. Kaiunbashi, one of Morioka's signature spots, is nearby and offers a lovely view, and there's a 7-Eleven on the ground floor. A very convenient place to stay in Morioka, and one I'd recommend.

Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of tasty choices. The yogurt was especially good, and trying the different honeys was fun. We also had no trouble with noise during our stay. The hotel is close to the train station, and the bathroom was bright and spacious, although the shower and bath area seemed a little smaller than at other Daiwa Roynet hotels. There was a good range of bath amenities at reception. We did run into a couple of problems. The room curtain let some light through, and the reception staff wouldn't call restaurants before we arrived, though they could help make bookings afterward. Both places we hoped to try were already full when we got there, which was inconvenient. On our second day, a strong barbecue smell reached our floor. It seems to be a known issue from a nearby restaurant. The smell faded after a while and didn't get into our room, but I think it should be addressed and prevented.

It was easy to reach the hotel from the train station through the underpass, and the elevators helped with our large luggage. There are plenty of good restaurants across from and beside the hotel, and the mountain view from the bridge is just a short walk away. The hotel feels modern. Our room was on the small side, but comfortable enough that I was sad to leave for Tokyo. Bath amenities are self-service at reception and well stocked, and the staff can speak English.
