Tsunagi Onsen Shikitei

The kaiseki was outstanding, with most, if not all, of the ingredients sourced locally. Staff were very helpful, and the hot spring water felt mildly alkaline and left my skin feeling slippery. There are indoor and outdoor baths. The inn is about 10km from Morioka City; buses to Tsunagi Onsen are infrequent, but the inn can pick you up. A great Japanese inn if you're after somewhere quiet.

This beautiful Ryokan has a small public bath, and the room was a lovely Japanese-style space with a private bathroom. The staff were kind and attentive, noticing little things and going out of their way to help. Breakfast was excellent; I didn't try dinner, though I assume it's just as good. I expected to use Google translate and my broken Japanese, but all the information was available in English. Highly recommended, especially for foreign visitors looking for an authentic experience off the beaten track.

We loved the room, and the futons were comfortable. There were plenty of amenities, and we especially enjoyed the coffee and tea in the room. The onsen was clean and relaxing, and the traditional ryokan experience came with wonderful service. Staff were so kind and helpful, especially with our limited Japanese, and clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. Both dinner and breakfast were extensive and delicious, a highlight of our whole trip. We'd book this ryokan again.

The bath was heavenly and relaxing, and the hotel is small. Everyone was so nice, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was spacious and pretty, and they provided free parking across the street. We asked ahead about a special meal with certain restrictions; they said they couldn't fully accommodate them. We decided to come anyway, then were overjoyed to find they'd prepared a special meal after all. The food was fantastic. We'll definitely come again when we're in the area.
