I stayed on the second floor, and aside from the narrow, steep stairs, it was generally good. Unfortunately, there was no water in the bath. The map also has the coffee roastery’s location and photo mixed up. Dinner at the izakaya downstairs was delicious, inexpensive, and satisfying. Everything was 490 yen, including alcoholic drinks, which really stood out. If you stay on a Saturday, you can get a lovely view of the Hilton Hotel fireworks from your window. The place is centrally located for exploring the island, with sunset at Sesoko Beach, swimming at Anchi Beach, or just taking it easy at a cafe. A good value stay.

The clear night sky was the highlight for me. The stars are stunning, and you can even make out the Milky Way. I stayed in the first floor room, which was much more comfortable than the outside of the building or the entrance would suggest. The building also has a coffee roastery and cafe, with one room downstairs and two upstairs. There are four beds, a washing machine, and a garden-like balcony with a hammock where you can dry laundry. The bath is clean and the amenities are all there. There’s a stove, microwave, and WiFi too. Guests can have as much cafe coffee as they like. Some booking sites say there’s no breakfast, but for guests staying several nights, the cafe provides rolls or similar bread. It opens around 7 a.m., so it works well for breakfast. It’s also fun chatting with the locals.

There’s a foot-soaking hot spring before you reach the beach, with a large hotel off to the right. At dusk, when the setting sun falls across the water, people photographed from behind make for an unbeatable beach scene. American Village is next door, and its neon-lit night view is beautiful and worth seeing.

We went during the quiet season and had a really worthwhile time, with the barbecue area, which is like a balcony, all to ourselves. I was so happy to drink their delicious home-roasted coffee (^o^)

The bathrooms are new and clean, and morning coffee comes with the stay. It’s affordable and seems like a good fit for longer visits. It’s freely available.
