The room was roomy and comfortable, and sunset watching was lovely. The host was kind and, although he speaks only Japanese, he explained things carefully with a translator. You can hear cars on the road in the evening, but it’s otherwise very quiet. Getting to a convenience store or daily necessities takes a bit of a trip, so a car is useful. It suited a peaceful rest well. After our stay, the host asked guests to take photos and join an Instagram review. I’d like to come back if I get the chance.

The manager really made the stay memorable. She happily walked us through the Japanese-only appliances and sent us off with a little Okinawa goodie bag. We also loved hearing the park animals early in the morning, using the BBQ provided on the balcony, and soaking in the big-window wet-room bath. Even as tourists who didn’t speak the language, we felt welcome and never like we were in the locals’ way. Supporting this small business felt like a nice way to support the community instead of staying with a big hotel chain. It’s a beautiful, quiet place with a relaxing view and everything we needed for a vacation.

Really nice place and host. I’d absolutely recommend it!

The landlady was so welcoming that the guesthouse felt like home. Food aside, everything was supplied, and the appliances were well equipped: there was a fridge, washing machine, dryer, oven, microwave, and even a rice cooker. I’ll definitely come back to Okinawa someday.

We finally got a bit of sun on the second morning and ate a quick breakfast on the terrace. We’d picked up groceries at the supermarket at headquarters and made soup and rice, and even that simple meal was wonderful in the setting. The terrace really is the inn’s best feature. From there, the view of the primeval forest, ocean, and Ie Island is extraordinary. The bath was great too, with a large, stylish claw-foot tub, a washing area, and a rain shower. The room itself is huge, with high ceilings, dishes, pots, a kitchen, fridge, and washer/dryer with detergent. It’s on the second floor from the road side and third from the park side. The owner lives downstairs, but the stairs to the second floor are outdoors, so coming and going feels fairly private. I visited in late October expecting sunshine after typhoon season, but got a rainy week. This inn saved the trip. It’s beautifully cared for, though building something this substantial in a place with little else around must be a major undertaking for one person. I felt a little awkward having the whole place to myself as an older man for two days. If you stay, I’d suggest booking multiple nights. The mothers running the inn are working incredibly hard while also taking their many children to and from school.
