Royal View Hotel Churaumi - Closest to Churaumi

After checking out, I realized I’d left my phone behind. The hotel team quickly helped track it down, kept me informed, and arranged to mail it back safely. Their honesty and kindness turned what could have been a stressful situation into an easy one. A special thanks to Dilshan for being so professional, attentive, and willing to help. The care from the staff left a lasting impression, and I really appreciate their service. Highly recommended.

The family room was huge, and you really can’t beat the location right by Churaumi Aquarium. If the main thing you want is quick aquarium access, this is the best hotel for it. I might stay again while I’m still up for the stairs, haha. There’s no elevator, though, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you use a wheelchair. Maybe this helps with choosing. I paid around 56,000 yen for a night, and it didn’t feel worth it with the shower and window problems. The water kept switching from cold for five seconds to hot for five seconds the whole time, I actually counted. My ocean view was hard to see through the really dirty windows. There was hair left on the room and bathroom floors from the previous guest, and check-in was a bit of a hassle over the reservation party numbers. If the windows were clean, I could understand the price, but cleanliness matters to me. Hope they sort out the shower and windows before I come back and get that nice ocean view!

The hotel only apologized and acted as if a small snack box settled the breakfast problem. There was no proper explanation or meaningful compensation from the hotel, and I left very disappointed. The box had a few pieces of bread and fruit, which wasn’t what I’d expect from a booking marked “breakfast included.” At the hotel I was told breakfast was only served to group tour guests, not individual travelers. I’d booked an ocean view room with breakfast through Agoda. Before the stay, Agoda told me the room type couldn’t be provided. That was frustrating, but after a long discussion Agoda offered partial compensation, so I decided to go ahead. In the end I got neither the ocean view room nor a proper breakfast. Future guests should know that advertised services may not be delivered as expected.

The rooms were lovely and the hotel is very close to the aquarium. I liked the Royal View, though I’d have preferred the Orion. The nearby Orion resort has more facilities, including dining throughout the day with several choices and an onsen. At Royal View, they only serve meals at breakfast.
