Hotel New Budget Muroran

For ¥6,000, I got a smoking-friendly single room and breakfast while visiting Muroran, which was much cheaper than nearby hotels. Don Quijote is an easy walk away, and there are restaurants and convenience stores close by too. The location worked really well.

The breakfast spread was a nice part of the stay: bread, soup, coffee, and more, all you can eat. Croissants are always available, while about ten other kinds of bread rotate by day. I wanted to try every kind. The staff at reception and breakfast were all polite and kind, too. It’s about an eight-minute walk from Higashi-Muroran Station on the JR Muroran Main Line. Though the price is low enough to make you wonder if the place is old or has problems, the room was thoroughly cleaned and spotless. Muroran’s downtown is a short walk away, with Don Quijote, convenience stores, and popular yakitori restaurants, so finding dinner was easy.

The complimentary breakfast was tasty, with four breads to choose from, including croissant, pizza-style, and cheese. I did miss having milk. The room’s tub took a while to fill because the hot-water flow was limited, and there’s no large public bath. At ¥6,000 a night plus ¥500 for parking, the total came to ¥6,500, which felt very reasonable.

Friendly staff, and my room was compact but clean. Breakfast bread was delicious. The station is close, with plenty of restaurants around, so dinner was no problem.
