The one good thing was the polite, well-mannered staff, and the hotel is very close to the ski lift. Beyond that, this was one of the most misleading hotel experiences I've had, despite visiting Japan multiple times a year for over 10 years. The place is extremely old and felt like something from a horror movie. Furniture, walls, and basic amenities were all outdated. There was a lot of dust, especially in the bedroom, and the carpet was worn and very old. The air conditioner made constant noise all night. A friend in another room heard the same noise from the air vent, so it seems tied to the age of the building. I had a very hard time sleeping. There were also very few staff around, and it felt as though one person was covering several jobs.
