The room was even better in person than it looked in the description, and it was both clean and spacious. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us whenever they could. It’s on a quiet street with lovely buildings and temples to see on the walk into town, yet the location is really convenient. We loved our stay and plan to book here next time we’re in Kyoto.

I was on the third floor and had a really good room with good quality throughout. The only downside was that the aircon controls were in Japanese, though that’s understandable since we aren’t Japanese.

The constant room changes cost us a lot of time and energy and caused real stress during our trip. We ended up moving three times, rearranging our schedule, getting up early, then rushing to pack and clear each room for the next guest. It began with a smell and lack of light in our first-floor room, so we asked to move. The hotel agreed, but it was a busy season and we kept being reassigned. We were given a smaller room than the one we booked, but were glad it was on the third floor and didn’t smell. Based on what happened to us, I strongly suggest confirming a second- or third-floor room if you decide to stay here, and avoiding the first floor.

When we checked out, we left our luggage at reception while we went for breakfast. My boys had left their backpacks on the floor, and the staff had put a little mat under them by the time we came back. Such a thoughtful touch, and a lovely finish to the stay. The room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with a Japanese style. There were four of us, and the boys really enjoyed sleeping on the futon over the tatami instead of using the bed. There’s a nice TV area between the two sides of the room, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a capsule coffee machine. The laundry was convenient and perfectly fine. Congratulations to all the staff. This is a hotel we’ll return to whenever we’re back in Kyoto.
