Hotel Madam Mirei

It's a very old hotel and not maintained well. The walls are dirty, and even the shared toilet makes the condition obvious. Food is about as basic as it gets, there are no towels, and the futons aren't as warm as they usually are. Maybe it suits students or people looking to spend less, but whatever you do, don't rent the ski boots. They're torture devices, not sports gear.

Everything else was great, which makes the indoor smoking rule especially frustrating. People smoked in the hallway right outside the rooms, and ours smelled of smoke most of the time. Our clothes all reeked by the end. At minimum, I wish they'd keep smokers on the top floor and make the other floors smoke-free, including the area in front of the restaurant. Non-smokers shouldn't have to deal with it. The food was great, the staff were lovely and attentive, and the rental gear was in good shape. When we had a minor issue, the guys were happy to swap it for another item. It's only a two-minute walk to the ski slope, and it's cheap. I'd visit again if they dealt with the smoking.

The owner is really friendly, and the service is good. If your gear has a problem, you can even swap it for free the next day. The room is a little old but cozy, and you'll have a very good time here. I wouldn't recommend hotel eldia.

The food, staff, location, and gear were all great. The old building and rooms have clearly seen better days, though. Smoking was allowed right outside the rooms, and by the end of our stay everything in ours smelled of smoke.
