We loved the food most of all. The meals were beautifully prepared with fresh, quality ingredients, and some of the best Japanese food we've ever tasted. The price felt far below what it was worth, and nothing we ate at the restaurants we visited came close. It's very underrated. The hosts were friendly, professional and incredibly helpful, and the house is run very well. We also loved the private onsen. The location is excellent: close enough to walk to Akakura Onsen, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet at night. They offer good value services like transfers and meals.

The owners were great, so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were nice and traditional, with a shared bathroom, and there was a fantastic bath downstairs. There's also a massage chair, which felt great after a day on the slopes.

Teryuo was the friendliest and most hospitable person I've met. I was the last guest to leave for the season, and he took me to a fantastic restaurant called Yoiga Doxon. He also helped me search local supermarkets for Yamazaki, a good Japanese whiskey. We checked about four stores, and Teryuo wouldn't give up until he found it for me. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could. I really hope to see you again, Teryuo. You're a great man!

The hosts were lovely, friendly and attentive, and everything was clean and well organized. Japanese breakfasts and dinners were available as meal options, and the food was great.
