The food is what keeps me thinking about this place. The vegetables were so good that I came away with more ideas for cooking them, and the fireplace and terrace in the dining room made meals feel especially nice. My husband liked being able to pick his own chopsticks. It has a relaxed, homey feel, thanks to the women on staff and the head chef. The rooms each seem to have their own look, and being set apart from one another makes it easy to enjoy some quiet. When the campsite is closed, you can hear birds while soaking in the hot springs. We had a car, so we couldn't use the pick-up service, but they can arrange a classic car if you request one. It's a lovely place for adults to slow down.

I haven't been back for about ten years, but I still remember how peaceful the room felt, with its soothing decor and semi-open-air bath. I also had the large outdoor bath all to myself. The meals were tasty, though I can't recall the details now. It's gotten quite a bit more expensive since my stay, but I'd still like to return.

Dinner is generous and really tasty, so I'd keep lunch light. It runs about an hour and a half from 6 PM, and that advice matters! I splurged on this stay and felt I got far more than the price suggested: warm hospitality, a wonderful atmosphere, and an experience I'll remember. Even little things like the toothbrushes felt noticeably higher quality. I came away sure I'd made the right choice, and I'm already looking forward to working hard and coming back next year. If you're thinking of staying, I highly recommend giving it a try.

The room's outdoor bath was a real way to shake off the day's tiredness, especially with cicadas singing nearby. The meals leaned on local ingredients and were lightly seasoned, but still had plenty of umami and didn't taste bland. I've stayed at hotels in Japan and overseas, and this one's my favorite. That classic feel and the care put into the small details really stand out.

My husband booked this for my birthday because he thought it would suit my taste, and it really did. The hotel entrance had me excited right away. During the New Year season, I loved the Herend annual plates and dolls, plus all the little decorations, even the flowerpot on the outdoor unit. The room details were lovely too. We ate really well, morning and evening. There were lots of vegetable dishes, and even when I was full I didn't feel guilty about eating them. The tea and coffee in the room were tasty, and the staff were kind and attentive. I'd love to come back and try a different room.
