Hotel Sunroute Nagano-Higashiguchi

The JR station is just across the street, which is the biggest draw for me. The hotel does feel a little dated, as other reviews have said, but my room was clean, had no smell, and didn’t seem to have been a smoking room before. It was spacious enough and had everything I needed for one night. Reception staff were friendly and spoke decent English.

There’s plenty nearby, including a Seven Eleven beside the hotel, Mi Do Ri Dept Store inside Nagano station, and lots of restaurants. The walk to JR Nagano Station is only about a minute across the bridge, and my room was clean and neat. But the room itself was small, and the double bed felt too small for two adults and a young child. The hotel and its furniture are old, and the only complimentary drink was tea sachets.

For the price, this was a very good hotel. Nagano station is an easy two-minute walk away, and the town center and its restaurants are fairly close too. My room was nice and very clean, and the bathroom was just as clean.

It’s a handy place if you need to be near Nagano JR station, which is right across the bridge. There are escalators and lifts at the bridge ends, so getting over with heavy bags is manageable. A well-stocked 7-Eleven is downstairs. This side also felt quieter, since the city center is beyond the station and there was less traffic around the hotel.
