The Saihokukan Hotel

The rooms need a major overhaul. The bedding and equipment felt old and tired, like luxury from the 1980s or early 1990s. Still, everything was very clean and lots of items were included. It’s about a 15 minute walk from Nagano train station, so take a taxi if you have bags. The staff were amazing, professional, helpful, and accommodating.

The rooms are dated, but a good size, and I found the beds comfortable. Staff were absolutely fantastic, so polite, kind, and generous. The buffet breakfast was great value too. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

The location worked really well, just a short walk from Zenkoji Temple, and the free parking was a big plus since most hotels nearby don't have it. I booked a semi-double room, and for the price, the stay was decent. The staff were helpful and nice, and the amenities were all there. I’d pick a South Wing room over the Main Building because they seem newer. The place would be so much better if the rooms were updated.

We stayed in the old wing, though, and the room felt like it was from the 1980s. Stained wallpaper, dated furnishings, and limited facilities. They didn't provide shower gel, so we had to use bar soap. The hotel seems to have had its glorious days years ago. The Emperor used to visit in the late 90s and early 2000s.
